Bombers Meet The Mavericks

How do you help cheer up this struggling Minor A baseball team? Treat them to practice with the Medicine Hat Mavericks, slushes at Hat News & Tobacco, a hot dog/hamburger supper then off to watch a live Mavericks Play-off game!

Davis GMC Buick was more than happy to partner with Val Olson from Chat 94.5 to treat this young team to a day they wouldn’t soon forget. After coming up winless in their first 13 games, the Bombers needed a little pick me up. On Friday August 1st, the team was able to meet and practice with a few members from the Medicine Hat Mavericks! Not only that but the local news came out to do a story on them as well. Needless to say the boys were having a great day already at this point.

Later on in the afternoon, we arranged to have have 2 large vehicles (GMC Yukon & Chevrolet Suburban) down to Strathcona Park to chauffeur the boys around town before the big game. Our first stop was Hat News & Tobacco for some slushes so the boys could cool down after an event filled afternoon. We then head over to Athletic Park to chow down on some hot dog/hamburgers and chips while we waited for the Mavs to filter in.

Right before the game, The Medicine Hat Mavericks were amazing to the young team. Not only were they getting the boys fired up for the game but also were more than willing to sign anything the boys wanted. At the point they were on cloud 9, ear to ear grins as they showed off the signatures on their hats and other things.

After all these things the biggest treat of the day was still to come. The boys were able to run out on the field with the Mavericks to start the game! The crowd cheered as they ran out on the field. It will be a feeling I’m sure they won’t soon forget any time soon. After the national anthem the boys returned to their seats to enjoy the rest of the game.

We wanted to send out a huge thank you to the Val Olson and the Medicine Hat Mavericks for helping make these kids day. It’s reasons like this that we believe we live in such an amazing community.
