Automotive “Green” tips for Earth Day

“By changing a few habits, you can do your part in helping the environment, say the experts at the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE recommends regular vehicle maintenance and better driving habits as two easy-to-implement strategies. What’s more, improved automotive habits will help your vehicle last longer and command a better resale price.

The following tips from ASE can put you on the road to environmentally conscious car care:

  • Keep the engine running at peak performance. A misfiring spark plug can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30 percent. Replace filters and fluids as recommended in the owner’s manual.
  • Don’t ignore that ‘Service Engine’ light. Today’s vehicles have much cleaner tailpipe emissions that they did 30 years ago, but a poorly running engine or faulty exhaust system will cause your vehicle to pollute much more than it would otherwise.
  • Keep tires properly inflated and aligned. Not only will you reduce the engine’s effort and, thus, gasoline consumption, your tires will last longer too, saving you money and easing the burden at recycling centers. Here at Davis we will properly inflate your tires at no cost.
  • Have your vehicle’s air conditioner serviced only by a technician certified to handle and recycle refrigerants. Older air conditioners contain ozone-depleting chemicals, which could be released into the atmosphere through improper service.
  • Remove excess items from the vehicle. Less weight equals better gas mileage. Remove that roof-top luggage carrier after vacations to reduce air drag, too.
  • If you do your own repairs, properly dispose of engine fluids and batteries. The local sanitary landfill accepts used motor oil and more here.  Remember too that improperly disposed fluids such as antifreeze can harm pets and wildlife. You can also contact local government for hazardous material drop-off/recycling stations.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was founded to improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. More than 360,000 automotive service professionals hold current ASE certifications. They work at all types of facilities, from new car dealerships, to national chains, independent repair shops, fleets, parts stores, and more. There employers often display the blue and white ASE sign, while the technicians wear shoulder insignia or lapel pins identifying himself or herself as ASE certified.

Visit www.ase.com for more information and seasonal car care tips.”

In depth review of the 2017 GMC Acadia!

2017acadia.jpeg

The All NEW GMC Acadia is here and it surpasses expectations by a landslide. Not only does it combine design with functionality while not sacrificing an ounce of comfort, it is more advanced than it has ever been in so many ways. Unlike previous models the new 2017 GMC Acadia has available All Wheel Drive Disconnect meaning the choice is yours anytime anywhere, and when you combine that with the option of Variable Ride Control or the All Terrain Package the road trip possibilities are endless.

Acadia also knows how important it is for your hard earned dollar to go as far as possible bringing us to the Standard 4 cylinder 2.4L motor or the optional 6 Cylinder 3.6L motor both with direct injection and variable valve timing make for a significant decrease in fuel consumption compared to the previous model. One factor is weight being 700 lbs lighter than its predecessors as well as a start/stop feature in the standard 4 cylinder meaning less money spent on fuel and more spent on creating memories.  As for those of you wanting to get there now, no power has been sacrificed in the V6, in fact the horsepower and torque have both been increased making the fast lane one you can dominate. denalidetail.jpg

Space, Space, Space, we always need space, whether it be for that 2:00 pm tee time, or that 6 am hockey practice, not to mention the 7 pm dance recital and the 4 pm sales pitch.  As a society our home lives and work lives have been combined more than ever before meaning we need functionality, which is why the 2017 Acadia still offers 3 row seating up to 7 passengers in select models, as well as flat folding and optional configurations giving you choice, space and passenger capability when the need arises.

#RearSeatReminderPrecision Grade, keeping up with todays tech has never been easier with the re-designed Acadia. New features include an available heated second row, Smart Slide technology in middle row seating, Rear Seat Reminder, Keyless Entry, Android Auto and Apple Car Play just to name a few. Unlike ever before you can have apps in your vehicle to make your daily drive safer and more convenient. One example being The Weather Network, get real time forecasts in any condition using your vehicles built in WI-FI!

frontrearcamera.jpgOther great optional features include but are not limited to: Beginner Driver Mode, Lane Keep Assist, Pedestrian Alert, 360 Camera, adaptive cruise control and auto braking. Everything about the new Acadia is bursting with modernization, safety, efficiency and an overall fun vehicle to drive! Standard is the word GMC prides themselves in, standard rear view camera, standard LED exterior lighting, standard real aluminum accents, standard rear seat alarm. All these things combine to create a vehicle you can be proud of, look smart driving and most importantly feel safe and secure driving for you and your family.

The Verano is Here! The Verano is Here!

Well folks this long awaited day is finally upon us – Last night at 6:00 our very first 20120 Buick Verano was delivered to the dealership!! The car is currently in the process of being inspected and cleaned, after which we’ll post some pictures, but for now we’ll go over some highlights of our new luxury compact sedan.

The Verano is based on the Buick Excelle – one of the best selling luxury cars in China – and built on the same platform as the Chevy Cruze. However the similarities with the Cruze end at the platform – The Verano was built with a sculpted design, luxurious, extremely quiet interior, with advanced connectivity and user friendly technology. Using Buick’s signature Quiettuning Technology, the Verano has proven itself to be the quietest car in its class. They have acheived this with extra thick acoustic laminated glass, duel-density carpet, premium door sealing, liquid sound deadeners, and tires and wheels specifically desighned to counteract NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness.)

Inside, the Verano boasts a 7-inch color touchscreen radio with Buick IntelliLink, Bluetooth, USB, streaming audio, and available connectivity to the smartphone app Stitcher Radio. IntelliLink is one of the greatest triumphs Buick has come out with in recent years – it uses Bluetooth connectivity to integrate with your smartphone and allows control and full functionality of your phonebook, streaming audio, enhanced voice recognition and control of USB connected devices.

We’ve got 2 more Verano’s on their way and they should be landing here later this week – come in and have a look for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

2013 Buick Encore Revealed at NAIAS!!

Exciting news from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit – Buick has revealed their new small crossover!! Welcome the 2013 Encore to the family!! The Encore will be smaller than most other vehicles in its class, with a 2.66 meter wheelbase, but it packs 1,359 litres of cargo room onto a revised version of the platform used on the current subcompact Chevrolet Sonic. The Encore will also share its powertrain with the Sonic and Chevy Cruze, a 1.4L turbo 4-cylinder that cranks out 140 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.

The Encore joins the Verano – this years new addition – to round an already stellar lineup with the Regal, Lacrosse, and Enclave SUV. It will get the same IntelliLink hands free bluetooth system with 17.7 cm LCD screen that is coming to all Buick models for 2012, and will also feature an all-new Active Noise Cancellation system which will make the Encore one of the quietest rides on the road.

” Buick Encore is a great-looking, smart choice for those who want luxury crossover amenities in a more maneuverable and agile vehicle,” said Tony DiSalle, US vice president of Buick Marketing. “It represents a luxury alternative for a new audience of Buick customers, and delivers features and flexibility not typically found in vehicles of its size today.”

The Encore will be hitting dealer lots in early 2013 – enjoy some pictures from the NAIAS for the time being!
